It has been a privilege and honor to serve Glendale as City Clerk. I believe that in order for government to work for the people, it must be inclusive. This principle was what drove me to run for the position of City Clerk and has been the hallmark of my tenure in office. For the past four years, I worked hard to make this principle a cornerstone of the way we serve the public by:
- Holding informational public forums on how to get involved in civic affairs
- Talking to students about the functions and importance of city government
- Working with community based organizations to educate and register new voters
- Archiving city documents and making them readily available to the public
- Video recording and archiving all city council and commission meetings online
With all our accomplishments, there is still much work to be done. I believe the challenge that faces every American citizen is keeping their government inclusive and responsive. As your City Clerk, I will help our city meet these challenges with innovation while fostering an environment that encourages civic participation and fair-play for all.
I hope I can count on your support. Please vote on April 7, 2009.
