I am proud of our school district. Despite declining funding and staff cuts, Glendale is recognized statewide as a well-managed district that is increasing student achievement for all. But we have challenges ahead, and all of us must work to meet them.

I am proud of the efforts that are bringing teachers and administrators together to find ways to better prepare our students to succeed in a global economy. As the mother of a teacher and a former part-time teacher myself, I know how challenging the job is.

I love collaborating with community partners, parents, and other districts to increase opportunities for youth. I represent GUSD on the Workforce Investment Board; Verdugo School-to-Career Coalition; Arts & Culture Commission; two coalitions of school districts; and LA County School Trustees Association. I have been active in PTA since 1987.

As parents of two—soon to be three—GUSD graduates, my husband and I are very thankful for all this district and its teachers have given our children. I want to ensure that GUSD can provide as much and more in the years to come, so all our children can succeed.
